The subject-matter of the interlaboratory comparison measurements - ICM is the mutual comparison of measurements results of a certain laboratory with the results of a reference laboratory recognised in the respective field. The purpose of the ICM is the evidence of the both accredited and non accredited laboratories competencies, including verification of the measurement uncertainties declared by laboratories. ICM is one of methods assuring the professional level of the activities and services provided by metrological laboratories. The successful participation in the ICM is one of provisions for accreditation or authorization. SLM arranges the ICM since 2001. Department for strategy and marketing, later as Department of metrology is the accredited coordinator of ICM since 2004 The programs of the interlaboratory comparison measurements are organized in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17043: 2010 - Conformity assessment - General requirements for proficiency testing. From 2011 it is the Department of metrology that undertakes the coordination of the interlaboratory comparison measurements.
